End of Week 2 Update!
I have officially finished my second full week on Zepbound!
My first dose was on 5/17 and my second dose was on 5/24. I will be taking my 3rd shot tonight.
So far I have lost a total of 7 pounds! My starting weight was 269.5lbs and my current weight is 262.5lbs! I suspect most of this weight loss is water weight rather than all fat, but it's exciting to see the numbers change on the scale. Next week, I hope to start incorporating some exercise into my weekly routines to help melt the fat a little faster.
Thoughts & observations so far on the 2.5mg dose of Zepbound:
- The main way this medication works is by suppressing appetite and reducing cravings
- I never thought ANYTHING could take away all the binge eating thoughts I struggled with on a daily basis for OVER TEN YEARS but starting from the day after I took my first injection, the food cravings and obsessions have disappeared...like magic
- My last DoorDash order/binge eating day was on 5/16/2024. This marks 15 days since my last takeout order which is the longest I have ever gone without ordering takeout or going through the drive-through in years
- On social occasions where I have gone out to eat for social events/restaurants, if I eat too much then I start feeling nauseous and my stomach starts hurting
- Aside from the night after my first dose, I have really not experienced any side effects from this medicine
- I am able to make healthier choices about food and actually enjoy them instead of seeing them as punishments
- But I still cannot bring a bag of chips home without eating a hefty portion in one sitting
- I don't find myself thinking about food all day and I don't sit there planning my day around meals/food anymore
- I don't get cravings for burgers, fries, pizza, McDonalds, chipotle, etc anymore...like it's gone.
- I've been enjoying cooking and making home-made meals
- I don't track my calories which is OK
- The shots don't hurt as bad as I thought they would
I have been enjoying meal planning and cooking more at home. Here are some of the meals I've eaten in the past 2 weeks
It was yummy and really easy meal prep but not my favorite. Likely won't make this again.
I loved this recipe because it's such a unique way to use tofu! Really enjoyed this low-carb dinner recipe and again, it was super easy to make.
One lazy night where there was nothing meal prepped -- air fryer chicken nuggets, a sourdough roll, and mashed cauliflower
This won GOLD this week for meal prep. It was the easiest recipe and the tastiest. Probably one of the more healthy and most flavorful recipes as well. Really versatile and lasted the whole week without going bad. I didn't even have to pre-cook the tofu! Will definitely be making this again.
Another lazy night meal - air fryer keto chicken strips with air fryer fries and a hint of truffle aioli
Picnic with friends - half of a chicken caesar wrap from the store and some Ruffles chips.
Old me would have eaten both halves of the wrap in one sitting but I only could eat 1/2 of it now
I was hungry for some noodles on this day so I mixed some chili oil with Thai wheat noodles from Trader Joe's. For extra protein, I added turkey meatballs to make it a full meal. Yum!
So this was actually my least favorite meal prep of the week. It looks healthy but I just found it incredibly oily with the pesto and olive oil. It made my stomach feel queasy and excessively full. Plus I didn't like the way the gnocchi tasted. I ate 2 servings this week for lunch and had to throw the rest out sadly.
