End of Month 2 Update
Life has completely gotten in the way and I haven't updated this blog since I first started Zepbound. It has been about 2 months. I am now 11 shots in. That sounds like a lot but it's really only about 2 months since I started Zepbound. OK maybe 2.5 months.
Starting weight: 269.5 lbs
Current weight: 252 lbs
Goal weight: 130 lbs
I have lost almost 18 pounds since I started Zepbound! That's close to about 1.5 lbs per week. I am so stinking proud of myself and this is the lowest weight I have been at in the past 2+ years. I will admit that my weight loss was pretty aggressive at the beginning, but now it has started to slow down. I am currently on the 5mg dose, and just took my 3rd shot of that dose 2 days ago. I was starting to notice that the 2.5mg dose started wearing off about 8 weeks in. The 5mg dose is suppressing my appetite very well without any side effects. I did have a headache and malaise the night of my first 5mg dose but it wasn't anything too terrible. Again, no food noise or cravings even when I'm due for my next dose.
I did notice that after starting the 5mg dose, my period came 7 days late which is unusual. I mean, my periods aren't 100% regular but they usually vary only by a few days. I'm hoping it's due to stress and the fact that my thyroid levels are still not normal. My endocrinologist also bumped up my Synthroid dose so hoping that will aid in weight loss too.
I also survived my first plateau! Trust me, it was a very frustrating experience but I'm so glad I pushed through. During my past weight loss ventures, my weight has always started to plateau around the 255-lb mark. And due to that frustration, I would go back to binge eating. BUT THIS MEDICINE IS MAGIC and I had no desires to binge eat. I did increase my calorie intake a little because I realized I was skipping meals and eating/drinking water late at night which would inflate my weight in the morning, and my body was holding on to the weight because I was not eating enough. It was also because of period bloat since my period arrived 7 days late this time around. But whoosh finally over the hump as they say and I'm back to losing weight again. The plateau lasted about 3 weeks.
I am off to Colorado next week. I'm hoping to somehow magically reach 250 pounds before then. I wish my weight loss was a teeny bit faster, but I am in no rush. This is a marathon, not a race. And honestly I am just happy that the food noise, cravings, and binge eating desires have finally disappeared from my life. Oh and my clothes are starting to fit much better too, and they are looser. I still can't fit into some of my shirts that have previously been tight on me but I'm hoping with another 10-20 pounds I can start fitting into 2X instead of 3X clothing. The only thing I do want to change is that I want to start exercising hopefully this next month. Hopefully that will ramp up my weight loss.
OH one last update. I ordered Doordash last weekend at lunch for the first time in 2 months. AND AGAIN, THIS MEDICINE IS MAGIC. I only ate half of my takeout order and saved the rest for later. And didn't binge eat later in the day again. Old me would have scarfed that down in one sitting and then ordered another load of food for dinner. This medicine has honestly changed my life.
